First things first... Getting a regular trim is a must if you are a fan of colour and using heated appliances daily. Including the hairdryer. Split ends don't just stick to the ends, they travel up the hair strand as far as they like so you need to be getting these little fiends cut off before they cause some real damage!! Every 6-8 weeks is probably the best time to go between trimming. My very good friend Fiona www.fionalouise.net is a mobile stylist who would be more than happy to trim those ends for you on a regular basis ;)
Take time out to pamper your locks. What girl doesn't like a good facial or body massage?? Your scalp and hair enjoy things like this too!! Shampoo with a good clarifying shampoo if you like to style your hair alot. This will remove all the products and leave it squeaky clean. Neutrogena have a good clarifying shampoo. Really scrub the roots and scalp to get the blood flowing in your head and to stimulate the hair root. Then condition the ends with a lovely moisturising conditioner and leave on your hair for as long as possible. I often go to bed with conditioner on my hair and just lay a towel over my pillow. Your wake up with hair as smooth as a baby's rear end. So worth it.
Your general day to day health affects the state of your hair. A bad diet and lazy attitude will leave hair limp and possibly greasy. Yuk. Exercise gets the blood pumping and the heart going. A good balanced diet ensure your insides are gleaming and working to the best of its ability. The hair appreciates your exercise and diet just as much as your heart and muscles do. Salmon and other fish packed with Omega 3 fatty acids help the hairs strength and brings lifeless hair back to its natural happy self. Veg, poultry and nuts also supply the hair with the nutrients and goodness it requires,
Use the right tools at the right time. After washing your hair don't rub a towel over your head, bring the hair down and gently squeeze with a towel working your way down the hair to avoid encouraging split ends and knots. Use an afro comb/wide toothed comb on the wet hair first, this will prevent hair breakage and strain.
Spritz with a light leave in conditioner such as Aussie Miracle Hair Leave In Conditioner available at Boots etc. If your going to blow try not to 'rough dry' use a paddle brush or round brush and keep the hot air aiming in the same direction as your hair cuticles. DOWN. You don't want to be blasting your hair in all different directions and then have an unruly mane to tame. It'll cause huge frizzing and split ends will have a field day being blown further up the hair shaft then they ever imagined they could get! Finally when hairs dry ensure there are no knots using your wide toothed comb or paddle brush. And style.
There are so many things that help promote healthy hair but I don't have all day to write about it and you don't have all day to sit here and read it. ;) The above are probably the easiest and quickest way to get/keep your hair healthy so do them. I guarantee you, your hair and your body will benefit.

Thanks for this, loving it... let me know if you ever give advice on how to blow dry your own hair for everyday/nights out? Would like to do that instead of always straightening it and I'm useless with the hair-dryer! xx
